Motivation and Industry Appeal

What brought you to the FX/CFD industry?

My journey to the FX/CFD industry was driven by a passion for financial markets and a desire to be at the forefront of a rapidly evolving sector. The opportunity to leverage my academic study of Economics, whilst staying in tune with latest society trends, say applying new technology, and following latest tools of digital marketing and AI, was incredibly appealing to me.

What do you like the most about your job/industry?

What I enjoy most about my role in ATFX and the FX/CFD industry is the constant state of innovation. We are in a very fast paced competition. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and the need to stay ahead of market trends keeps me engaged.

ATFX Strategy and Industry Improvement

How does your company differ from its competitors?

It is the human factor. Whilst we are in an industry that requires great efforts in constant innovation, we never forget to be client centric. ATFX prioritizes building long term relationships by offering our clients cutting edge trading technology, and at the same time personalized support that caters to their needs.

What can be improved in the FX/CFD industry?

One area that could see significant improvement in the FX/CFD industry is informing the customers. Firstly, it is about education. While there is a wealth of information available, it can often be overwhelming or fragmented. Providing comprehensive, easily accessible educational materials, marketing information, and trading tools, like those by ATFX can empower traders to make more informed decisions. Secondly, it is to foster more transparent information about risks and rewards, best execution and how the trading venues operate. This can help the FX/CFD Industry build trust in society and attract a broader audience.

Success, Influences, and Personal Insights

What do you consider to be your biggest success so far?

My biggest success has been leading ATFX through a period of significant growth and transformation. We’ve expanded our global presence, introduced innovative trading solutions, and built a strong, client focused culture. Seeing the positive impact of our efforts on our clients’ trading experiences and achieving our strategic goals has been incredibly fulfilling.

If you had one chance to have dinner with an influential person you admire, who would that be?

That would be Taylor Swift. I could have chosen a polictian or a tycoon, but just look around, we are living in “Eras” that the soft power often matters more than the old power of money and politics. This is why the Times Magazine chose her as “person of the year” in 2023. Just look at how she drove the change of music industry’s balance of power and distribution channel. I would like to talk to her and try to get insight into our industry. There is an interesting recent Economist article covering how she got rich, I would invite readers of this report to have a look.

Which travel destination has impressed you the most so far?

I would say Cape Town. My first trip there was a personal when I was young, where the beautiful V&A waterfront, natural beauty of Table Mountain, and the enchanting vineyards nearby truly captivated me. The second and third visit, however, coincided with ATFX’s expansion into South Africa as we acquired of an ODP license there in 2023, allowed me to witness the vibrant energy of the mother city that’s constantly evolving and embracing new opportunities. This experience resonated with me, as it reflected the dynamic and forward thinking spirit of ATFX.

Which characteristics do you admire the most about people?

I admire resilience, integrity, and empathy in people. Resilience allows individuals to overcome challenges and adapt to change, integrity ensures that they act with honesty and principle, and empathy enables them to understand and connect with others on a deeper level. These traits are essential for both personal and professional success.

What action will you never do again?

One action I will never do again is taking actions without sufficient understanding of the situation and consulting with partners at work. Early in my career, I worked on a futures trading desk as a sales dealer, I made a significant error because I misinterpreted an ambiguous instruction of a customer trading in open outcry SP500 Index futures contracts. I learned the hard way the importance of communication with my peers before major actions.

If you had a time machine, to which year you would go and why?

If I had a time machine, I would go to the year 2050. I am fascinated by the future and the potential advancements in technology and society as a whole. Witnessing how current trends evolve and shape the world would be insightful and perhaps even give me opportunities to make the World better in one of the Parallel Universes.
